SKILL ENHANCEMENT INITIATIVES

Education is the key to human resource development and a vehicle for economic growth of a country. But without a support skill for employment or vocational work, the appropriate utility of education cannot be done. Due to constraints in curriculum and time, MMCOP offers basket of skill development courses to the students for the overall development as a competent pharmacist and pharmacy professionals. These capacity building programs helps to up skill students so that they can get most out of curriculum prescribed. Capacity building is a systematic approach of knowledge and skills development. It ensures an organization has the internal expertise to effectively implement change and improve performance. Our capacity building programs includes,

1. Soft Skills

Employability Skills development program

Objective: The Employability Skill Development Program (ESDP) imparts one with the required skills to gain a competitive edge in any job market. This program, with an emphasis on hands on training, uses techniques like role play, business communication, team leadership etc. We are conducting ESDP in association with Rubicon Skill Development Pvt. Ltd. Pune to make our students ready for placement.

Verbal Reasoning, Aptitude Test & Logical Reasoning
Objective: Verbal reasoning modules are designed to assess English comprehension while an aptitude test is a systematic means of testing students’ abilities to perform specific tasks and react to a range of different situations. Logical reasoning tests are conducted to assess student’s ability to use structured thinking to deduce from a short passage which of a number of statements is the most accurate response to a posed question. To achieve this objective we have tie up with Vmedulife software Services, Pune.

2. Language and Communication Skills

Objective: To improve various skills among students like Written Communication, Oral Communication, Critical Thinking, Quantitative Analysis, Research, Information and Computer Literacy, we conduct online V+ courses.

3. Life Skills

Yoga Day Celebration & Meditation program
Physical fitness activities
Health and hygiene related practices

Objective: In everyday life, the development of life skills helps students to: Find new ways of thinking and problem solving. Recognise the impact of their actions and teaches them to take responsibility for what they do rather than blame others. Build confidence both in spoken skills and for group collaboration and cooperation. Every year we are celebrating International Yoga Day to create awareness about Yoga which is an ancient physical, mental and spiritual practice that gives calmness, peace, confidence, and courage to the students to do several activities in a better way. The sports week is organised every year to develop motor abilities like strength, speed, endurance, coordination, flexibility, agility and balance, as they are important aspects for good performance in different games and sports. As well as health check-up camps are organised to encourage the need to ensure proper healthcare and hygiene by NSS volunteers.

4. ICT/Computing Skills-

Use of experimental software such Design-Expert, Mini-Tab, Graph Pad-In Stat, Kinetica, Simulation etc.

Objective: To develop ICT capability in finding, selecting and using information, to use ICT for effective and appropriate communication and to monitor and control events both real and imaginary in the students.

5. Entrepreneurship Awareness Camp (EAC)

Objective: To create awareness among students about various facets of entrepreneurship as an alternative career option as also to highlight the merits of pursuing such an option. Experts are mostly invited from local or nearby institutions including practicing entrepreneurs with educational background in Science and Technology. Every year we are organising EAC in association with National Science & Technology Entrepreneurship Development Board (NSTEDB), Department of Science and Technology, (DST-NIMAT) Govt. of India, New Delhi.
